Arizona Bay Special Guest Star - Dan Shooter

In December 2004 I was sent these pics by National Midday Sun (it's a Rush forum) alumni Dan Shooter - and to think I was getting very proud of my big drum kit! Dan informs me that the kit pictures he sent me are of a very big kit that is still shown as incomplete.... there are still a load of percussion instruments still waiting to be added to this! Dan, being from Wimbledon in the UK, redresses the international balance on this part of the site - it was starting to look like a Canadian drummer gallery!

Acrylic Concert Toms & Timbales to the left, Roto-Toms to the front and an acrylic Gong Bass Drum (basically a side mounted bass) to the right. Also a load of top end brass around the kit - PAISTE (including a Coloursound 5), Zildjian etc........ he has spent so much that he cannot spend any money on razors...... he sure ain't a shaver.

In full flight around the kit...... could die of old age hitting all of those drums.....

From the front - the low positioning of the Rotos looks like it makes them way easier to play. If you watch the video to Jump by Van Halen (circa 1984) then you will see that Alex Van Halen adopts a very similar set up (except he has a few more extra bass drums and the inevitable orchestral gong).....

More remarkable about this kit is the fact that most of it is a DIY project - the acrylic concert toms and gong drum are all Dan Shooter originals.......

This is the kit that Dan bought from some guy who was selling in LOOT for not a great deal of money in April 2005. It is a superb Tama Concert Tom kit - with some PAISTE Coloursound Cymbals! Bargain!
