Arizona Bay Special Guest Star - Craig Fellner

As part of my March 2004 update I asked drummers from around the world to send me some piccies of themselves. Craig was kind enough to oblige and has sent me some pics of himself and his mega drum kit.

Here he is. Craig is from Fort McLeod in Alberta, Canada (thus the provincial flag you can see flapping in the breeze above) - and he describes himself as a forty something (born in 1960). He started drumming whilst at school (on the timpani) but waited until he was in his thirties  before he graduated into the wonderful world of rock drumming behind a Dixon Kit (which he says was not built for hard hitters!).

Here is Craig's current kit. He describes it as Gretsch circa 1980, which was found for him by a friend in Vancouver. 14 & 15 inch rack toms, 18 inch floor tom, x2 24 inch bass drums and a mega deep (over eight inches) snare drum. This is surrounded by some Sabian AA cymbals. Personally I always thought that the toms on my old Supreme kit were the deepest I had ever seen - these buggers look like they have been made out of old NASA Saturn V stages left over from the moon landings! It is hardly any wonder that the kit takes an hour to set up and that there are not a lot of stages that are able to support the weight of it.

Here is another shot of Craig's kit.... it's a monster!

Craig and his fellow musicians about to lay waste to Alberta.....

This is Craig at work in the slaughter house - either that or crowd control at his gigs is a bit more proactive than it is over here.....
