Here I will be listing my fave musicians other than drummers - there is no exclusion here - all musos are welcome! My dream band would be made up of any or more of these guys;
Bass Guitar - Geddy Lee of Rush

The best bassist in the world - ever! His playing is loud, technical and not at all what is expected of a bass player - in Rush tracks, the bass also plays the melody or acts almost as a second guitar. His skills as a keyboardist are also very impressive.

Lead Guitar - Alex Lifeson of Rush

Yes - the observant amongst you will notice that I have now included all of Rush - I make no apologies for this - they are my fave band! Alex is a superb guitarist and technically brilliant. You should also check out his solo album which, unlike other guitar solo albums, is not full of 100% solos but keyboard based instrumentals, poetry by Auden and appearances by suspicious sounding session musicians (obviously other members of Rush). I offer my apologies to Alex for using a quite horrible 1970's pic of him!

Keyboards - Rick Wakeman

The quiet and polite looney of Prog Rock (now also the darling of quiz shows like Countdown - more shameful than any of the solo material he did - but only just - I had to sit down and work it out!). His work, however overblown and mad (especially Camelot on Ice) is inventive and complicated. His seat at the table of prog Valhalla is assured! Apart form his solo and Yes work, he also turns up on the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album.

Singers - Ozzy Osbourne of Black Sabbath

It is sad to think that a whole generation will grow up and think that Ozzy is just this bloke on a reality TV show! His slightly scary voice turns up on some of the best heavy metal recordings ever made and certainly set the standard for metal singers for years to come. It should be noted that you should never go for a drink with this man - ever!

Jazz Musicians - Miles Davis

Quite possibly the best musician who has ever lived, and certainly the best Jazz Musician ever. I cannot get enough of this man's playing - the best of it improvised. Legend has it that he would record a session with his band, go home with the master tape, and the only way the session musicians would hear it was when Miles phoned them up and played the tape down the phone to them. Also a prolific artist (of the painter type), he died in 1991.
