Arizona Bay Special Guest Star - Jen Hoeft

Jen adds a bit of glamour to the site - this is good as female drummers are currently underrepresented on this site! She works as a personal trainer. As an added bonus she also does a bit of jazz drumming here and there. Jen has been playing drums since the age of ten. She studied Music Ed. at JMU, and finished her Master's in Conducting at University of Arizona.

Jen moved to Nashville (thus the Tennessee State Flag fluttering in the breeze above) and performed with the Wooten Brothers, eventually playing on 2 of Victor Wooten's CD's. She toured for 2 years with BNA recording artists, The Warren Brothers, and currently is playing and recording with several jazz groups. Jen was the first female drummer to ever perform on Austin City Limits. She teaches fitness during the day, and has just completed her book: FUNdamental Fitness:Playground Exercises for Grownups©....

Why can't we have venues like this in the UK? Jen within the enormous confines of an unidentified stadium. Interesting drummer points here: the small shelled snare drum you can see is referred to as a "Piccolo" and some drummers just have them as a matter of preference (they have a wicked sound!) - Steve Ferrone of the Average White Band is one of the more well known users of this kind of snare.

This shot shows the fantastic finish on the floor tom. Here, Jen is in full swing with a jazz band - in April 2004 she appeared at the Pensacola Jazz Festival.

Nice grainy atmospheric B&W... make like Sheryl Crowe and soak up the sun.....

Jen is another guest that has made it into print (along with Dan) - here she is at the signing for her new book FUNdamental fitness. If you click on the link at the top of the page you can find out how to order a copy.....
