Nicko's Drum Salon - July 1991

In the early 1990's, Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden embarked on a series of Drum Clinics (I prefer to call them Salon's), appearing at a series of music shops across the country. I was lucky enough to capture him on camera at A1 Music, Oxford Road, Manchester. Nicko turned up with his charcoal Sonor kit that he had used on the Somewhere in Time Tour. In March 2007 I received an e-mail from Paul Barnett who informed me that the correct date for this gig was July 14th 1991 - well at least that clears up the mystery. Please feel free to look at the pictures for Drummer Live Sept 2004 (also in this gallery set) when I met Nicko McBrain again.

Nicko was a very good public speaker - despite breaking the house microphone pretty early on in the gig (he dropped it on the floor...). He took questions all night (including some from a 21 year old called Graham near the front row) and was an all round good egg. Nicko can also be found on the Drummer Live pics within this set!

How to practice on the chod bin - Nicko asked me not to take this pic but I grasped the opportunity for potential blackmail if I ever need some Sonor toms or PAISTE cymbals....
