A Day Trip to Glasgow

This day out served several purpose. I was gagging for a Starbucks, I wanted some pics of the site of the old Glasgow Apollo (Rush related link on the way!) and Gill needed a lift to some airport or something..... if you click on either of the spinning Glasgow Celtic logos above it will take you to the City of Glasgow Webcam......

And your starter for ten is..... Starbucks. Another city, another Starbucks..... this is Starbucks in Borders, near St Enoch's....

There were lots of these old Tardis/Police Boxes knocking around. This one was a coffee shop - thus the thigh slapping and hliarious Coppucino logo on the top.

Emma on our open bus tour of the city.... it takes over an hour....

On our bus tour - the Gorbals as viewed from across the Clyde. Glasgow is one of the few cities I can think of that have retained nearly all of their late sixties/early seventies tower blocks and not had them demolished....

The old ship yards - now the site of the SEC....

Tall ship in the old shipyards....

One impressive cinema.... (tallest cinema in the world by the way) it occupies the former site of the Glasgow Apollo - legendary rock venue - some of the Rush live album Exit Stage Left was recorded here as well as Status Quo's brilliant live album Quo Live.. if you click on the cinema pic above it will take you to a site full of memories of the Glasgow Apollo....

Rare shots of Rush on stage here and a ticket from one of their shows here...

... oh don't look - it's too depressing.... the bulldozers move in...
